Galleries, museums, businesses, and other venues in Harrisonburg’s downtown art district are working together to offer a range of arts viewing opportunities the first Friday of every month. Come on down to Main Street!

The Arts Council of the Valley offers a number of programs.

Grants - Apply for funding for arts-related projects benefiting residents of Harrisonburg and/or Rockingham County! Over $200,000 has been re-granted since 2001.

Art Walks - The Arts Council coordinates the Museum and Gallery Walks and First Fridays Art Walks in downtown Harrisonburg

Court Square Theater - Located in the heart of downtown Harrisonburg, the theater is a community commons offering theater, music, independent films, and more.

Smith House Gallery - The Smith House at 311 South Main Street, home to the Arts Council, is home the Art Council’s own gallery. Exhibits change each month.

Latino Film Festival - A film and discussion series at Court Square Theater focusing on content generated by Latino artists, directors, and community members from around the world

First Friday's at in Mt Jackson VA

1st Friday's in Mt Jackson VA is held from 7 P.M. to about 10 P.M.
This is a no charge for the event, and refreshments are available.

First Friday's in Winchester Virginia

Enjoy a free evening of drawings, paintings, prints, sculpture, ceramics, photography and live musical entertainment weather permitting. During the summer the sounds of Bluemont Summer Concert Series will surround you as you stroll down the historic old town pedestrian mall. In winter the lights on the trees will wink at you as walk. First Friday is fun for the family no matter what the season.
