Tom
Haun
Tom Haun has been an artist for for many years, as well as a singer/songwriter/performer. Most of his subject matter is of the American southwest as well as Central and South American themes. "All of my work is abstract, regardless of my subject matter", insists Tom. "I became intrigued by the themes I use in art since I began readings the works of Carlos Casteneda back in 1981, and that pretty much is the foundation for most of what I do now". Tom researched and studied the cultures and societies of the Mesoamerican people and their art and incorporates them in his artwork. "My art has in many ways reflected and influenced my music as well", says Tom. Tom has also been influenced by the early poster artists such as Rick Griffin and Victor Moscoso and has produced quite an extensive body of work in this area as well. "Coming into the computer age was a blessing for this medium, as I am able to work more freely using the principles of graphic design and arrangement" Tom has designed and illustrated poster ads for a lot of the local musicians, with whom he has become acquainted and has even performed with, particularly at Chapallino's in Woodstock. Tom has performed as back-up vocalist for Rick Harris and Travelin' Jack on occasion. Tom is also a stage actor. Under the direction of Barbara Strong, Tom began in 2002 as a performer in the classic musical "Godspell", as well as a recent stage production of "The Music Man", and is now rehearsing for an upcoming show "Amahl and The Night Visitors".
